Hello and welcome. My name is Matthew Behr, Founder and CEO of AeroCardia. Sometimes I look like this — presenting AeroCardia in front of some of the biggest MedTech experts in Canada at the CLIC innovation competition.

Most of the time, though, I look like this. Exhausted after my first ultra-marathon. Outside of AeroCardia, I spend most of my time outdoors — running, chasing my dog Buoy around in the snow, or getting mildly lost somewhere I shouldn't be.

Why AeroCardia exists
AeroCardia was built for people exploring and living their life — not for a clinic. The device is a portable mouthpiece that monitors pulmonary function: your breathing patterns and the composition of the air you move, the same underlying data a hospital-grade metabolic cart captures, just without the appointment.
That gap is what started this. Real cardiorespiratory monitoring has always lived behind a clinic visit, which means almost nobody gets it regularly — including the people who need it most right after they've already been in one. I teamed up with Dr. Abhinav Sharma, a cardiologist, to dig into that specific problem: the monitoring gap after a patient is discharged from hospital, when the data that matters most tends to go quiet.
Where we're headed next loops back to where the idea started: bringing AeroCardia's monitoring back into clinical cardiovascular applications, not just endurance training. Same sensor, same principle — measure, don't estimate — pointed at the problem that got us here in the first place.
